♥ How did you first meet?
Mitch & I first met at a house party at Mitch’s house for his younger brother’s birthday. We grew up in a small county town where I went to high school with his younger brother, his mum was a teacher’s aide at our high school and his older sister and my older brother were friends in high school. So we knew of each other but Mitch being a few years older than me, we didn’t really meet each other until that night.
♥ Tell me about the proposal..
My sister and I planned a girl’s weekend away to Melbourne for my birthday on NYE. Mitch wasn’t able to come to my family Xmas that year as he was on call for work. So it was a massive surprise to see him and my sisters hubby Matt walking towards us down at the esplanade.
I just thought Mitch and Matt had planned to surprise both my sister and I, maybe because they got lonely – I honestly didn’t think much of it.
Both the guys had booked us suites at the Crown Casino so we went our separate ways and planned to meet up for dinner that night.
Once we had checked into our room we were laying on the bed catching up. Mitch seemed to be acting a bit weird and all of a sudden stopped the conversation to ask ‘Will you marry me?’
I was pretty shocked and asked if he was being serious?
He said yes and I said YES!
Mitch asked if I wanted to see the ring – He still had it in his bag.
I said of course and he jumped up to grab the ring.
Once he opened the ring box it all became real and I started crying.
I remember him asking if they were good tears or bad tears because I hadn’t said anything yet.
It was so magical, intimate and such a wonderful birthday surprise.
♥ How did you find planning the wedding?
Planning the wedding was very enjoyable. I am a natural organiser so I had a wedding planning journal to help break everything down and make it more manageable. I knew that after planning our engagement party and almost having a mental break down that I did not want to be setting up on my wedding day. I made the smaller items and hired the rest. I left the set up and pack down to Michelle and the Cloud Nine team which was the best decision!
♥ What was most important to you for your special day?
To be relaxed and focus on the present
♥ What did you love about Pelican Waters Golf Club?
Pelican Waters Golf Club was the perfect compromise for Mitch and I. He wanted somewhere that we could have the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and accommodation all in one place so the guests could relax. I wanted a venue that would arrange the set up/pack down for me, with beautiful surroundings, a central location for a majority of our guests and that wouldn’t blow out our wedding budget. It was just a very relaxing environment to be in the day before, our wedding day and the day after our wedding.
♥ What is your favourite moment/memory from your wedding day?
After being whisked around the golf course on the buggies for our professional photos the bridal party were able to sit in the board room with canapes and drinks to relax. It was really nice to just sit down, relax, regain my thoughts and reflect on the day before going out to see all the guests. Plus my feet hurt and I was getting hangry by that point – so it was just what I needed to tackle the night ahead.
♥ Where did you honeymoon? Tell me about that…
Mitch and I went to a Coconut island off the coast of Phuket. There wasn’t much on the island beside the resort so it was nice and relaxing with all food & drinks included. We stayed for 8 nights and also travelled to Phi Phi islands and explored central Phuket.
