From the Sharks Mouth:

"It typifies my design philosophy. I ask myself . . . ‘how do I feel when I walk off an extremely boring course unable to remember a single hole I just played?'

Anyone can build the hardest course in the world, or the most boring course in the world. That isn't a big deal. But to finish playing a course like Club Pelican and remember each shot of the 18 holes . . . that's what great design is all about.

The design must test each player, whether that player is male, female, high handicapper or a pro like me. The course must test all of us, and it must also produce a memorable day".
