When my husband and I started planning our wedding I knew I wanted it to be near the beach, which meant I needed a reception venue close by. I googled Sunshine Coast reception venues and several popped up. I narrowed it down to four based on the look of the venues from the websites and cost. As we live in Brisbane we made a day to come and visit the venues. Pelican Water’s Golf club was our first stop and to be honest we fell in love with it straight away. It set a high benchmark that each other venue was compared to and fell short each time. It was on our drive home that day we emailed Michelle and asked to book the venue. It was important to both of us to have a reception venue that looked beautiful but you could still feel relaxed, as well as friendly staff.
The original date we had in mind was already booked but Michelle offered other dates and we locked one in. Most of our planning for the day was completed either via email or phone calls. Michelle always went out of her way to respond quickly to my emails and even assisted when we had curly questions from some of our suppliers. It was also a really lovely touch that we were offered a free tasting of the menu options and the staff were happy to sit and talk about our wedding with us in person.
The day of our wedding was memorable for many reasons. Unfortunately, the beautiful sunny beach wedding we had planned was not to be as Mother Nature whipped up a massive storm. Thankfully the day before the wedding Pelican Waters offered to hold the ceremony as well as the reception. The morning of our wedding the staff of Cloud Nine and Pelican Waters worked their magic and transformed the back balcony into a beautiful ceremony location. The moment I saw my then husband to be, all my worries faded and I walked down the aisle ready to become his wife. This was a little delayed as at that very moment a gust of wind came and sent the bridal party racing back up the aisle. Thankfully it did not deter our wonderful celebrant Jarrad Bayliss, and the wedding continued. Following the ceremony our wonderful photographer Richard from Level Eleven Photography (with his assistant Mel who was also my make-up lady) and Videographers Dan and Jayden from Sunshine Coast Videography took us out on location with the aid of Prestige Cars, Birti and Betty the Bentleys in the pouring rain to get photos.
